If you have been wondering, like i have, that WAS the series finale we saw a few weeks ago

I had a love/hate relationship with this series. It was always a hit or miss proposition following this show, and far too often, it seemed the misses outnumbered the hits. I never gave up on the show though, because i was always fond of the premise it was based on, and some of the characters helped make up for the stories, which were often lacking in enough content to keep me truly interested in what happened in the fictional town.

The story begins in the year 2046. Earth has been radically transformed, causing changes in topography, the extinction of plant and animal species, and the emergence of new species. Defiance, a city-state community where humans and several extraterrestrial races, collectively known as Votans, coexist over the partially re-built ruins of St. Louis.

The alien drama, which starred Julie Benz and Grant Bowler, along with other notable cast members Stephanie Leonidas (as Irisa Nyira), Tony Curran (as Datak Tarr), and Jaime Murray (as Stahma Tarr), debuted in 2013 to 2.73 million viewers, launching in tandem with an immersive online multiplayer video game. But the series struggled in the ratings, ending its three-season run in August with just 1.17 million viewers.

SYFY had this to say about the series:

“Defiance was a truly groundbreaking series, delivering an immersive, cross-platform experience that transcended the television screen in a way that viewers had never seen before,” the network said in a statement. “We are incredibly proud of the work of the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers – and especially showrunner Kevin Murphy – who together brought the rich world of Defiance to life over its three season arc.”

The news comes along withe announcement the channel has also cancelled the series Dominion after two seasons.
