Season two is on the horizon with a premiere date set for July 1st, and news of some cast additions and a new extended trailer for this fun outer space mystery/adventure series.
One of my picks for last year’s top five in genre tv, this series made a favorable impression in its rookie season, with all of the elements a fan looks for in an outer space adventure series.
Now comes news from Syfy about some cast additions for the series second season. with the premiere date for season two only a month or so away, this news arrives with an extended trailer that promises more of the same blend, of action, mystery, and adventure, with the show’s unique touch of lighthearted fun, as the story of the crew of the Raza continues.
Syfy reports the addition of Franka Potente as a series regular to season two. As Syfy states on its website: “The woman who took existential panic to a whole new level in the cult classic Run Lola Run (aka Lola Rennt, 1998) will be causing some trouble for the crew of the Raza in the second season of Dark Matter. Franka will be playing Commander Shaddick, Chief Inspector of the Galactic Authority Serious Crimes Division, a cool, calculated force of nature who’s got it in for the Raza gang”
Along with this new comes the report of another addition to the cast in the form of Shaun Sipos. Here’s what Syfy has to say about it: “Add another number to the roster of Dark Matter. Actually, Shaun Sipos will be playing a character who has an actual name: Devon, a once world-class surgeon who’s now haunted by a dark past that may spell trouble for himself and his fellow crew members (and by that we assume the crew of the good ship Raza)”.
Will Sipos’ character be replacing #6 as part of the crew? No word on that yet, but all will be revealed when the series second season premieres on Friday, July 1st 2016. If last years season is anything to base expectations on, this is a date to look forward to with enthusiasm. Along with the casting news comes an extended trailer that gives us a sample of what to expect in the show’s second season. The trailer can be viewed below.
