Although nothing has been confirmed by ABC it is looking as if “Marvel’s Agent Carter” will be cancelled after the second season. It was announced a couple of days ago that star Hayley Atwell has been cast in a new ABC drama series called Conviction. In Conviction, Atwell will play Carter Morrison, “the brilliant but ne’er-do-well daughter of a former President, who is blackmailed into taking a job as the head of Los Angeles’ newly created Conviction Integrity Unit.” Morrison and a team of experts will investigate possible wrongful convictions. The series comes from Jessica Jones executive producer Liz Friedman and Liz Friedlander.

While it’s possible that Atwell could do both series given that Agent Carter is a limited series that prospect seems unlikely. Ratings for season two of the show have been disappointing. Season Two stumbled out of the gates, opposed by the CW’s Suicide Squad/Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice previews. With the second season premiere ratings being half of what they were last season it is an obvious disappointment to ABC. In all likelihood, Season Two will be the series last.
