What’s lost in the whole “why change Johnny Storm black” criticism is the fact that the producers and writers thought they were being “progressive” by changing the race of a character to “shake things up” but failed to follow through with consistency in the casting. Instead of relishing in the opportunity of boldly casting A FEMALE BLACK ACTRESS as Johnny’s sister they cowardly come up with some trite adoption excuse to cast another generic vapid blonde actress to plaster on their posters and merchandise. It may not have saved the final product, but competent casting decisions would have spared a lot of the initial backlash for this movie that started from the get go.

Having Johnny Storm played by an African American changes the family dynamic? Maybe you should have explained that one because I can’t see how the colour of a character’s skin, or having one of the siblings being adopted, changes the ‘dynamic’. If that’s the case, then I’m surprised people haven’t complained more about the Thing not being orange enough – not to mention the fact that he doesn’t wear pants, because I’d think that having daddy Reed’s mate Ben hanging around with his junk out all the time would be somewhat disruptive to a ‘family dynamic’ too. All that said, I agree that the movie will probably suck, but simply because it looks boring and shite.

Also, Jonathan Kent never says “Clark, IT IS better to let a busload of kids drown in a river than reveal your secret identity by saving them.” in Man of Steel, you might want to re-watch that scene.
