HBO has released a new full trailer for Watchmen, Damon Lindelof‘s adaptation of the groundbreaking comic book series by writer Alan Moore and artist Dave Gibbons. The trailer is an effective one; unquestionably intended to create curiosity and aneed to know more. It sure worked on me in that regard. While this trailer provides a lot of seemingly random images to dig into over it’s three minute duration, and a lot to ponder, it never reveals mcuh about the series narrative or just how much it will adhere to the source material. It sure has a radically different feel than the Snyder film did.

WE are trwated to some nice, albeit very brief depsictions of the Minutemen, but it is not cvlear if the scenes are flashbacks within the contest of the ‘present’ of the show. Regina King‘s vigilante character seems to play a key role in the series but it is not clear what role her character plays in the show’s events.

The synopsis    for the series looks like this:

Set in an alternate history where “superheroes” get treated as outlaws, this drama series from executive producer Damon Lindelof embraces the nostalgia of the original groundbreaking graphic novel of the same name while attempting to break new ground of its own.

Developed by Damon Lindelof, HBO’s adaptation of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbon’s Watchmen stars Jeremy Irons, Regina King, Don Johnson, Tim Blake Nelson, Louis Gossett Jr., Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Tom Mison, James Wolk, Adelaide Clemens, Andrew Howard, Frances Fisher, Jacob Ming-Trent, Sara Vickers, Dylan Schombing, Lily Rose Smith and Adelynn Spoon. The series is scheduled to premiere October 2019.
