Director Robert Rodriguez’s cinematic output has always
been schizophrenic to say the least, veering between the very violent
likes of Sin City and
Planet Terror to kids’ movies such as the Spy Kids franchise
and The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl 3-D. So it shouldn’t
come as a surprise that he’d be directing this live-action movie based on
the old ‘Sixties Hanna-Barbera cartoon in-between the likes of
Predators (the Predator reboot),
Nerverackers and Sin City 2.
Let’s face up to it: The Jetsons were nothing
but The Flintstones set in the far future and one can probably
expect a live-action movie to be similar in tone to the 1994 and 2000
Flintstones live-action movies. It will however be a production
designer’s wet dream project to bring the Jetsons’ retro futuristic
designs to life though and heck! One might even want to check out for that
alone!
