THEY SAY
The story of five young people who find themselves stranded in Moscow,
fighting to survive in the wake of a devastating alien attack. The 3D
thriller highlights the classic beauty of Moscow alongside mind-blowing
special effects.
Seriously though, we have higher hopes for Darkest Hour than
that. It at least features some of the more interesting alien invaders in
quite a while, namely invisible energy beings. This at least makes it a
bit more appealing than your average aliens-arriving-in-spaceships
routine, which has become quite stale by now.
The trailer is a bit misleading though. It isn’t strictly “by” the
director of Wanted. Instead Timur
Bekmambetov, the gifted Wanted /
Night Watch / Day Watch director,
merely served as producer. The movie is directed by newcomer Chris Gorak
who previously worked as art director on the likes of
Minority Report and Fight Club.
Also the Moscow setting is a welcome change from L.A. (We’re still
stuck with vacuous photogenic Americans though.)
