STAR WARS:
THE CLONE WARS (2008)
Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008)
Starring: Anthony Daniels, Greg Ellis, Ian Abercrombie, Matthew
Wood
Directed by: Brian O'Connell, Dave Bullock
U.S.
Opening Date: August 15th, 2008
THEY SAY
On the front lines of an
intergalactic struggle between good and evil, fans young and old will join
such favorite characters as Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Padmé
Amidala, along with brand-new heroes like Anakin's padawan learner, Ahsoka.
Sinister villains
—
led by Palpatine, Count Dooku and General Grievous
—
are poised to rule the galaxy. Stakes are high, and the fate of the Star
Wars universe rests in the hands of the daring Jedi Knights. Their
exploits lead to the action-packed battles and astonishing new revelations
that fill Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
WE SAY
More Clone Wars malarkey, sigh . . .
Apparently studio bosses were so impressed by the quality of
this new computer-animated Star
Wars television series that they decided to give the first few
episodes a theatrical release as a full-length movie.
The point is we’ve already had the 2-D animated Clone Wars
series and, hey, let’s face up to it: Attack
of the Clones was probably the worst movie in the entire Star Wars
series
—
so why have even more of all that? How about getting the original
Star Wars crew
—
Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, etc.
—
and film a few of those Star Wars novelisations about what happened
after Episode IV?
But, hey, at least the chances are that a computer-generated Anakin
Skywalker will probably be less stiff than Hayden Christensen.
