SciFi: We’re talking today with Andrea Hunt, who stars in the new horror/slasher film “WTF!” now out on and On Demand, Digital HD, Amazon, and iTunes from Midnight Releasing. Andrea, thank you for joining us here at the SciFi Movie Page. Tell us first a little bit about yourself and your background. How did you get involved in WTF!?
SciFi: WTF! Is really a throwback to slasher films of the 1980s, are you a fan of those type of films? (If Yes) And what’s your favorite?
Andrea Hunt: Horror films really scare me, so I haven’t seen that many. When I think of 1980 slasher films, I think of Nightmare on Elm Street.
SciFi: A lot of actors have done horror films early in their careers and gone on to become some of Hollywood’s top stars…Johnny Depp, Kevin Bacon, Jamie Lee Curtis to name a few. Is that something that is in the back of your head at all?
Andrea Hunt: Someone was just talking to me about that the other day. I think the horror genre is so awesome because it has so many other genres involved like romance, comedy, sci-fi, etc. It can prepare you for so many things. I would of course love to have a long career like the people you named.
SciFi: So, tell us a little bit about the production. How long was the shoot? Where was the shoot?
Andrea Hunt: The shoot was amazing. We only shot for about 2 weeks. It was definitely the most fun I have ever had on a film and that’s because of the people. Everyone was there because they wanted to be…it was great energy on set and a lot of joking around. We shot most of it at this awesome house on Mulholland in Los Angeles. We would spend a lot of time by the pool doing crosswords and laughing. I have some great memories at that house!
SciFi: What was your favorite scene involving your character (Bonnie)?
Andrea Hunt: Probably my death scene. It was intense, but so gratifying. Plus, I got to work with a stunt coordinator and that was really fun! The first day of shooting when we go to the old man’s store and the motel was really fun too because we got to improv a little, and I loved Bonnie’s outfit.
SciFi: One thing I loved about the film was that it has a quirky sense of humor and your character had some of the best lines in the movie such as offering Jacob a peek at your breasts if he will stay with you in the house. Can you talk about that aspect of the film?
Andrea Hunt: Yes, I think this film was more of a comedy horror. There are some hilarious parts and one liners (“Ju-tit-su”). I think that’s why I enjoyed working on this so much. Although it could be intense at times, we also got to do some pretty fun light-hearted scenes.
SciFi: Without giving too much away, Bonnie had one of the film’s more grisly death scenes. Tell us about doing that scene.
Andrea Hunt: It was an intense day mentally, physically, and emotionally, but so much fun. I has the opportunity to work with a stuntman beforehand. I didn’t actually see what the amazing makeup artists did to my face until they were filming and I looked in the mirror. It was NUTS to see my face like that for the first time!
SciFi: What were the most and least enjoyable experiences about filming WTF!?
Andrea Hunt: Most enjoyable was hanging out with the cast by the pool at our shooting location. I love those people. We all really bonded. I also loved the day we shot my death scene. Least enjoyable was the last day, just because I didn’t want it to end.
SciFi: Are horror films a genre in which you would like to continue to do films or do you have you eye on more conventional roles?
Andrea Hunt: I am interested in doing all kinds of genres. I have always been a fan of comedy, but I would definitely do another horror film.
SciFi: Tell us about what else you have coming up so we can keep an eye out for your future projects.
Andrea Hunt: Right now, I have a psychological thriller/horror movie out called, “Awaken the Shadowman, which is currently out in select theaters and is now available On Demand, Redbox, Amazon, iTunes, and Google Play. I also have another horror feature and a web series that I will be shooting soon.
SciFi: Andrea, thank you so much for joining us today. Continued success in your career and I hope We can talk again soon!
Andrea Hunt: Thanks so much!!
