The first trailer for the latest installment in the classic science fiction franchise Terminator: Dark Fate Is here, and introduces some new characters, along with some old friends to the now 35-year-old series of stories that form the basis of the films. Terminator: Dark Fate is the sixth film in the sci-fi action franchise which also makes it a sentimental journey for fans of the original movie that made such a significant impact on genre films that followed. Maybe that’s a good thing because there is not much new here it feels more like warmed up leftovers with some fresh gravy to make it feel fresh.
The trailer immediately lets us know that not much has changed in the future barren landscape of the post-Skynet world where the struggle against the hostile machines continues. We can also conclude the mechanisms have not been idle; they kept busy developing advancements.
The trailer begins by introducing Mackenzie Davis and Natalia Reyes, as they’re being pursued by a new type dark Terminator (Gabriel Luna), one that seems to have some particularly intimidating new abilities. Just as the menacing robot is about to close in on them, the cavalry arrives in the form of Linda Hamilton, returning as Sarah Connor, and loaded for bear or killer robots with a handy array of formidable weapons.
The trailer continues depicting the three making an odyssey until the inevitable moment when Arnold makes an appearance.
Although the film will release off the heels of “Terminator Genisys,” the newest iteration serves as a direct sequel to the first two movies in the franchise, relegating the events of the intervening films to alternate timelines. In addition to Hamilton and Schwarzenegger, original director James Cameron is also returning to produce.
“Deadpool” director Tim Miller helms “Terminator: Dark Fate,” which will hit theaters on Nov. 1.
