Will movie makers ever tire of doing remakes of the classic British legend Robin Hood? Probably not, and who can blame them? It’s a classic that has everything – an age-old story of good vs. evil filled with adventure, conflict, drama, humor, and romance. This time around looks like it might be a somewhat fresh take on the well-known story as Jamie Foxx’s Little John trains Taron Egerton’s Robin of Loxley in the ways of the thief in the first full-length trailer for Lionsgate’s most recent take on the story.
The new footage plays up director Otto Bathurst’s almost Batman Begins like take on the legendary hero, as a former lord and Crusader is transformed into a noble bandit by his Moorish commander, all to lead a revolt against the corrupt English crown. The trailer also introduces a heist sequence which is a welcome new focus not used in previous Robin Hood films, which adds to the fresh approach appeal of this new contender for the crown of films named for the eponymous character.
This time around, the film is an edgier take on the English legend, with modern sensibilities and flair. Arriving Nov. 21st, Robin Hood stars Taron Egerton as Robin, Jamie Foxx as Little John, Eve Hewson as Maid Marian, Tim Minchin as Friar Tuck, Jamie Dornan as Will Scarlet, Paul Anderson as Guy of Gisborne, Josh Herdman as Righteous and Bjorn Bengtsson as Tydon.
