Ever found yourself saying "if only I could go back to school knowing what I
know now"? (Or that is, if you've already left school.)
We all like to daydream about
how we would handle situations in our past if we have had some foresight. Like R.E.M.
sings: "It's crazy what you could have had." Peggy Sue Got Married plays
around with this concept: a 42-year-old woman (played by Kathleen Turner) is fantastically
transferred back to her past as a 17-year-old teenager.
Unlike Back to the Future in which Michael J. Fox travels back
in time to the 1950s to meet his parents, Turner is reincarnated as herself. Except she
knows exactly what is going to happen to her and other people. However, the question is:
will things turn out to be any different than it was?
A well-acted romantic comedy, Peggy
Sue Got Married is the perfect date movie. Rent it tonight and impress your girlfriend
