STARRING: Noah Hathaway, Barret Olivier, Tami, Stronach, Moses Gunn, Patricia Hayes, Stanley Bromley

1984, 94 Minutes, Directed by: Wolfgang Peterson

Description: Fantasy about a boy (Barret Oliver) visualizing the stories of a book he's reading. The imagined tale involves another boy, a warrior (Noah Hathaway), and his efforts to save the empire of Fantasia from a nemesis called the Nothing.  —

Um, I'll resist saying that this is really a Never Ending Story. Sorry, just couldn't help myself.

This fantasy tale drags incredibly despite its relatively short running time. The movie makes a point about people not bothering with reading any more and going to the movies instead where they are not required to use all their creative and intellectual facilities. Sort of a self-defeatist philosophy for a movie to take if you know what I mean. Kids seem to like it though.

Followed by a sequel The NeverEnding Story II: The Next Chapter in 1990 and The NeverEnding Story III in 1994.
