Not even the presence of several almost legendary British special effects wizards and a
big budget can save this plodding fantasy tale, about a young prince who has to save his
princess and his kingdom in the process, from being spectacularly unengaging.
A
sense of humour and fun would have helped this dull and predictable mixture of Star Wars and Excalibur featuring
ancient wizards, unfunny bungling magicians, small kids in Robin Hood-type outfits and
bearded princes with vertically striped (always slimming!) tights - but alas!
You'd be
better off seeing The Princess Bride again and it is doubtful
whether even small children would be entertained by Krull . . .
