Yes, the season 2 trailer for Iron Fist has arrived. The central question after such an underwhelming freshman season, is, will genre fans give it another chance? Even before season one was available, I had questions regarding this series and how it would define itself as a show. After all, Daredevil had already defined itself as an excellent martial arts series which left me wondering how Iron Fist would differ and manage to make itself uniquely appealing with the obvious martial arts path for the show already being done so well by another show. The answer was a mucked up sort of soap opera that focused on the show’s supporting characters more than Danny Rand himself, and frankly, it was kind of lame.
So now we have the season 2 trailer that shows Danny punching some guys as he assumes the fight against crime in Hell’s Kitchen in the still missing Daredevil’s absence. The synopsis for season 2 goes like this: “Season 2 furthers the transformation of Danny, a character with a fish out of water coming of age story making his way in a harsh new world, battling to work out who he is. This season, Danny has promised that with Matt Murdock gone, he will step up and protect his city. But a sinister plot twist threatens his very identity, and he must conquer his villains to protect the town and people he holds close to his heart.”
The trailer arrives with other news and among the revelations is that Iron Fist Season 2 will premiere on Netflix on Sept. 7. Additionally, Season 2 will finally introduce the Daughters of the Dragon, the name of the vigilante team founded by Colleen Wing and Misty Knight. Also, the show’s second season will have a story arc about the evolution of Colleen Wing and her adapting to life after the Hand. There is also news that Alice Eve will join the show as Typhoid Mary, a villain with multiple personalities and a slew of psychic abilities like mind control, telekinesis, and pyrokinesis. Sound like there will be plenty going on the show’s sophomore season to keep us entertained in case Danny, in the lead role, can’t keep us interested.
Arriving Sept. 7 on Netflix, Marvel’s Iron Fist Season 2 stars Finn Jones as Danny Rand, Jessica Henwick as Colleen Wing, Sacha Dhawan as Davos, Tom Pelphrey as Ward Meachum, Jessica Stroup as Joy Meachum, Simone Missick as Misty Knight and introduces Alice Eve as Mary Walker.
