Harley Loves Joker is a fun new mini series starring the incredibly popular D.C comics couple. As the story begins we learn that Harley Quinn and the Joker are having a run of bad luck thanks to a new villain on the scene by the name of Grison. Grison seems to be targeting the places that Harley and Joker plan to rob and that causes friction between the two deadly lovers. The Joker decides to set a trap for his rival as Harley wonders why the Grison seems familiar to her.
It’s great to see writer Paul Dini working on his co creation again. This story feels like an animated episode of Batman: The Animated Series where she was first introduced .This is the Harley that loves the Joker and will go out of her way to make him happy. The character appears to have gone through a lot of changes in her regular title( and various spin offs ) over the years, so for those who prefer the classic version of Harley this book does not disappoint.
Artist Bret Blevins brings his unique style to this story while combining it with the feel of the original animated series. His work enhances the humor and the action in this tale of revenge. Bret’s Grison design fits right in with the animated universe. Alex Sinclair’s vibrant colors and David Sharpe’s wonderful lettering round out this talented group of creators.
Readers who prefer the animated version of these characters or who just want to grab a book that isn’t bogged down in company wide continuity should give this a try.
