Some moments of delicious black humour and satire in which a bunch of rather likeable small monsters (the "gremlins" of the title) goes on rampage. When the little tykes are off-screen things tend to lag a little since the human characters are rather boring in comparison.

Followed by a post-modern mish-mash of a sequel, Gremlins 2 - The New Batch, in 1990.
