Joel Schumacher reveals his obsession with the glossy and
superficial in this tale about a group of medical students who
devise clinical deaths to experience what the afterlife would be
like.
Possibly interesting stuff is ruined by Schumacher's
predilection for pop psychology and his concern with close up
shots of the beautiful people starring in his movie. This
fixation with surface appearances would later make
