Never having seen the original TV series about an eccentric time traveller (his time machine resembles a London phone booth) I cannot share British Dr Who fans' disgust with the full length motion pictures made featuring their hero.

However, having devoured countless Dr Who novelisations as a kid I must say that this tacky, simple and heartless affair doesn't quite live up to expectations.

Hey, maybe I do know what those British fans are on about . . .
