I know for a fact his series was quite popular with fans and for good reason. It was one of the best shows on SYFY which makes its cancellation all the more puzzling and difficult to understand.
“Dark Matter” has been canceled after three seasons at Syfy the Sci-Fi Movie Page has learned.
The third season finale, which aired last week, will now serve as the series finale. Dark Matter centered on an intergalactic crew who awakens on a derelict spaceship with no memories of who they are or how they got there. It starred Marc Bendavid, Melissa O’Neil, Anthony Lemke, Alex Mallari Jr., Jodelle Ferland, Roger Cross, and Zoie Palmer. Joseph Mallozzi and Paul Mullie created the series, which is based on their Dark Horse graphic novel of the same name. Prodigy Pictures produced.
Syfy declined to comment. (continues below)
It’s never easy saying goodbye to any series you are so fond of, especially when it’s suddenly chopped off a schedule without any warning like this one was. It’s hard to believe and difficult to understand why SYFY would cancel such a good series while retaining other lesser shows like Wynonna Earp and Killjoys. After showing signs of getting their programming back on track after years of squandering what little respect they had left coming from genre fans, this seems like a big step in the wrong direction.
Following that news, Syfy announced the series KIlljoys, which airs its Season 3 finale on Friday, has been renewed for two more seasons, which will be the show’s last. The network announced that “Killjoys” will return for a fourth season in 2018, and the sci-fi action hour will end after Season 5. The two seasons will round out the “Killjoys” saga with 20 additional episodes.
