Fox announced on Monday that it has cancelled the series . . .

Expect loads of “extinct” puns in the media as Fox cancels this expensive Steven Spielberg sci-fi show filmed in Australia.

(It is about a family from the polluted and overpopulated year 2149 who travels back 85 million years in time to the age of dinosaurs to join a colony of humans trying to rebuild civilization.)

It doesn’t necessarily mean the end of Terra Nova as 20th Century Fox Television is shopping the show to other networks, but it seems likely that this is indeed the end.

The show’s cancellation has also fueled speculation as to the future of two other Fox shows, namely J.J. Abrams’ Alcatraz and The Finder.
