The CW wants to make hour long show out of DC comics character . . .
Plans are afoot to bring an hour-long live-action TV show based on the Green Arrow superhero comic book to The CW.
David Nutter, who has directed episodes of anything from X-Files and Supernatural to Smallville, is involved in the project.
Apparently the planned show won’t be a Smallville spinoff (Green Arrow was a character in the series) and won’t feature actor Justin Hartley who portrayed the character in Smallville, all of which is good news since Smallville never got the character right.
Green Arrow has been around since 1941 and is a billionaire playboy turned masked crime fighter in a green Robin Hood suit who uses trick arrows to defeat bad guys. In his later comic book incarnation Green Arrow had a strong left-wing antiauthoritarian streak and even battled a government stooge Superman with Kryptonite arrows.
