Two-year-old project finally gets round to hiring writers . . .

Micronauts movie projectParamount Pictures has hired screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick to write Micronauts for producer J.J. Abrams.

Both writers worked on the in-development Deadpool project, the 2012 G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation sequel and Zombieland.

Micronauts was the North American name of a short-lived Japanese toy range in the mid- to late-1970s which was also made into a Marvel Comics title in the early 1980s.

Micronauts is supposed to come to theaters in 2012, but considering that the project was announced two years ago and they only got round to hiring writers now I wouldn’t hold my breath if I were you.

Pretty cool comics though . . .
