Warners to bring Stephen King movie back to life?

After dying at Universal Studios, rumors have it that Warners might pick up plans to make Stephen King’s epic Western fantasy series of seven books into a trilogy of films followed by a limited-run TV series.

According to the rumors Warners is close to picking up a  script by Batman & Robin scribe Akiva Goldsman. The initial plan for the project was for Ron Howard to direct and Javier Bardem to star as gunslinger Roland Deschain.

If this happens then the books will most likely be turned into an HBO series (Warners owns HBO). Considering HBO’s current success with its epic Game of Thrones fantasy series this is not entirely farfetched.

Don’t expect any of this to happen before 2013 though.
