Star Trek 2 Won’t Be Called Star Trek 2
Details of sequel more closely guarded than diplomatic cables . . .
Typical of J.J. Abrams little is known about the upcoming Star Trek sequel, except the below:
a.) It probably won’t be called Star Trek 2 since the franchise moved away from using numbers after the sixth movie, namely Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. The Trek movie after that one was of course called Star Trek: Generations. Handy that, because then audiences aren’t reminded of just how many installments there are in your movie franchise and they can’t just go “I can’t believe they made a twelfth goddamned Friday the 13th movie! What a crock!” without a bit of mental arithmetic.
b.) Sources have confirmed that filming will start mid-January.
c.) There is no release date as yet.
d.) “We still haven’t gotten a script yet,” Avatar actress Zoe Saldana who played Uhura in the previous film recently told a news outlet.
e.) The cast will return and so will director J.J. Abrams.
