Director says he wants to work on the script some more . . .

Roland Emmerich photoAccording to Heat Vision blog director Roland Emmerich has halted production on Singularity so that he can work on the script some more.

Reportedly the director is not happy with the script about “a young man whose body is made up a swarm of nanobots, giving him all sorts of powers at the same time as it brings unwanted attention from an evil corporation.” (Maybe somebody pointed out to him that it was the same plot as I Am Number Four, except without any aliens of course.)

The movie was supposed to start filming in March in Montreal with a May 2013 release date in mind.

Emmerich wrote the screenplay with Harald Kloser, the movie soundtrack composer who also collaborated with him on 2012 and 10, 000 B.C.  Author Ray Kurzweil, a futurist and A.I. specialist who wrote The Singularity is Near (a book which apparently inspired Emmerich’s movie) will work with the director on the revised screenplay.
