Prometheus – Trailer # 2
There is even more new footage . . . and questions . . . in the 2nd trailer!
The upcoming “DNA from Alien” Ridley Scott flick Prometheus opens on June 8th, but there is still very little known about the top secret plot despite some tantalizing hints dropped in the second full trailer below:
South African actress Charlize Theron told delegates at WonderCon that all this hush-hush secrecy is “the closest we’ll feel to CIA spies, where we can’t tell our loved ones what we are working on.”
While the project may have started off as an Alien prequel “it evolved into another universe” Ridley Scott said.
“If we’re lucky, there’ll be a second part. It does leave you with some nice open questions.”
Scott also talked about how special effects have changed since Alien and how you “you can pretty much do anything you want” today with CGI.
This makes it more difficult to engage audiences though.
“We’re almost action-filmed out, almost science fiction-filmed out,” he said. “So the baseline question is: how original are you going to be?”
The new trailer confirms the below synopsis from MovieWeb:
“It’s set in 2085, about 30 years before Ellen Ripley. It’s fundamentally about going out to find ‘Who the hell was that Space Jockey?’ The guy who was sitting in the chair in the alien vehicle [in the first Alien movie in 1979]. This is an explanation of who the space jockeys were. [The film] is about the discussion of terraforming, taking planets and planetoids and balls of earth and trying to terraform, seed them with the possibilities of future life.”
So it’s Erich von Daniken meets Alien, then?
