Movie will be rated R for “sci-fi violence including some intense images, and brief language.”

Despite some reports that Prometheus might receive a PG-13 rating in the States, 20th Century Fox has confirmed that the movie will indeed be rated R which is good news for blood and gore hound fans of the franchise.

Release date is June 8th, 2012. It stars Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, Sean Harris, Kate Dickie, Logan Marshall-Green and Guy Pearce. The movie is directed by Ridley Scott.
