Blade Runner project will be a sequel “some years after the first film concluded” . . .

Blade Runner still

According to a statement released Thursday Hampton Fancher, who co-wrote the original screenplay for 1982’s Blade Runner, is in talks with Ridley Scott studio Alcon Entertainment to write a screenplay for a planned sequel.

Fancher co-wrote the screenplay for the movie ostensibly based on Philip K. Dick’s Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? novel with David Webb Peoples. He also appeared in TV shows such as Gunsmoke and Rawhide.

His screenwriting career however never really took off and his other credits include The Mighty Quinn (1989) and The Minus Man (1999).
