Why is Hulk missing from new publicity material?

Loads of publicity material for next year’s blockbusters lately – as if publicists are trying to clear their desks before going on holiday . . .

Latest are these two international banners from next year’s big Avengers movie from Marvel.

Interestingly enough the banners feature the Hulk’s mild-mannered human alter ego Bruce Banner and not the Hulk himself.

Why not feature one of Marvel’s tent-pole characters in your marketing? Do they want to keep his GGI appearance secret? Or are they ashamed of Hulk’s disappointing box office in two previous failed attempts to ignite a potential franchise? Or do they still have to do the final special effects work and have no idea what the Hulk (to be played by a third actor in as many movies) is going to look like? What do you think?
