Next year’s other Snow White movie . . .

Coming hot on the heels of Snow White & the Huntsmen (starring Charlize Theron and Kristen Stewart) comes the trailer for next year’s other big screen movie, namely Mirror, Mirror.

Some websites have erroneously described the movie as a “dark twist on the classic fairy tale, in which Snow White and the seven dwarfs look to reclaim their destroyed kingdom.”

However the movie – if the trailer is anything to go by – is a comedic retelling of the Snow White story in the vein of The Princess Bride and Enchanted.

This is a rather weird choice for director Tarsem Singh whose films (The Cell, Immortals, etc) rely on eye-popping visuals and special effects instead of snappy dialogue. Singh’s visual style is on display here sure, but the focus seems to be on the comedy instead which makes Mirror, Mirror a perfect antidote for the fantasy action adventure spin on the same story in Snow White & the Huntsmen.

Mirror, Mirror stars Lily Collins, Julia Roberts, Armie Hammer, Nathan Lane, Robert Emms, Mare Winningham, Michael Lerner, Mark Povinelli, Jordan Prentice, Danny Woodburn, Sebastian Saraceno, Ronald Lee Clark, Martin Klebba, Joey Gnoffo and Sean Bean. It is written by Melisa Wallack and Jason Keller.

Release date is March 16, 2012.
