Director Bryan Singer says he is still working on the Battlestar Galactica reboot for Universal Pictures . . .

Battlestar Galactica posterDirector Bryan Singer said in a recent interview that he is still busy currently developing the Battlestar Galactica reboot for Universal Pictures.

This comes in the wake of the news that plans for Singer (X-Men, Superman Returns) to direct a remake of the 1981 Arthur story Excalibur for Warner Bros. has fallen through. This “allowed me to go straight into developing Battlestar Galactica – which I think will be really exciting,” the director says.

Incidentally Guy Ritchie (Sherlock Holmes) also had an Excalibur project which was shut down recently.

The Battlestar Galactica remake – of the original late ‘Seventies TV series, not the recent Syfy show – was announced back in 2009 but seems to have made little progress since then.

I really hope Mr. Singer gets this one done and it does not fall through like the continuation project did.  What a shame that one did not happen.  Maybe, just maybe this will be the big one that fans have waited on for 30 years and yes, please give the part of Adama to Richard Hatch for if it had not been for his tireless work to revive interest, Ron Moore’s boring version would never have been made.
