Our note to the Avengers marketing team . . .
Dear UK Avengers Marketing Folks Responsible for Changing the Title of The Avengers to Avengers Assemble in the UK,
We here at SciFiMovieHype.com are quite glad to hear that you are such avid readers of our blog.
But we were simply kidding when we wrote the below in our Upcoming Sci-Fi Movies of 2012 article:
“Considering that the last few Marvel movies were nothing but extended trailers for this movie, which teams up some of the most popular comic book superheroes ever, expect this one to make a trillion dollars at the box office! Unless audiences somehow mistake it for a remake of 1998’s shitty Avengers movie starring Ralph Fiennes, Uma Thurman and Sean Connery and stay away in droves . . .”
No really. Sometimes when we joke, people think we are serious and when we are serious, people think we are joking. We get that a lot. It makes for entertaining comments to our posts.
We were sort of thinking that you were joking too when you changed the title of the upcoming Marvel superhero movie from The Avengers to Avengers Assemble yesterday. In fact, we had to check our calendars whether it wasn’t April the 1st. But it wasn’t . . .
But seriously now: we don’t think the youngsters streaming to see Iron Man, Captain America and Thor smash stuff real good will confuse it with a crappy 1998 movie none of them saw or a 1960s TV show that only their grandparents and weird guys in comic book shops know of.
See if you can spot the differences:
(Okay, they all have a chick in leather outfit but that sort of thing never really goes out of fashion if you know what I mean.)
