We say

Director Richard Kelly’s follow-up on the enigmatic cult hit Donnie Darko has run into a critical storm: an unfinished version (according to Kelly) was shown at the Cannes film festival where it was boo-ed and got rotten reviews. But hey, these are probably the same know-nothing snob yobs who boo-ed Darren Aronofsky’s weird and brilliant The Fountain, so who cares? Southland Tales is probably brilliant then . . . at least like The Fountain it sounds like something completely different. (By the way, Southland Tales is only Kelly’s second film.)
