Ah, the 'Eighties. If it wasn't for the 1980s, it would still have been the 1970s - Thatcher, Reagan and 'Eighties pop and all that. Despite this advances in special effects led to some great SF ideas to be visualised, particularly in the early years of the decade. Alas, as the decade progressed, movies came to depend effects more and more and less on storylines, plot, etc.
